Veterinary Mentorship
A paid mentorship program that is meant to end with you staying.
Our veterinary intern mentorship program is built for graduates. It is a paid position in a multi-doctor practice with one-on-one mentoring and structured case reviews, and housing is included. You carry your own caseload and make your own calls, but Dr. Meda Bacon is right there with you rather than a name on an org chart.
On completion there are employment and buy-in opportunities here. No weekends, no after hours and no on-call. Ever.
- Salary plus production
- No weekends, ever
- No on-call or after hours
- Brand-new hospital

Housing included
A private furnished apartment the clinic owns, 15 minutes from the hospital. Utilities and internet covered and your pets are welcome.
Veterinarians on staff, so you are never one of a dozen
Weekend, on-call or after-hours shifts
One-on-one mentoring in a multi-doctor practice
Private furnished apartment, included with the program
Real medicine in a brand-new hospital
Because we’re a full-service practice, no two days look the same. You’ll be part of wellness visits, sick patients, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics and house calls, all in a new, fully equipped building.

Surgery suite
Spays, neuters and general surgery in a dedicated surgical suite.

Dentistry
Cleanings, oral exams and dental procedures at a dedicated dental station.

Diagnostic imaging
X-ray, ultrasound and echocardiograms, worked up alongside a mentor.

In-clinic lab
Bloodwork and lab results in-house, so you follow cases from test to treatment.
Backed up, not babysat
These are your cases and your calls. The difference is that an experienced veterinarian is always in the building, your cases get reviewed on a schedule, and asking is normal here rather than a sign you are struggling. Surgery and dentistry are coached chairside for as long as you want them to be.

Learn from Dr. Meda Bacon
Dr. Bacon grew up in southwest Missouri, earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University and completed her clinical year at Colorado State University. She spent several years as an associate in mixed animal practice before founding McClure Veterinary Clinic in Ozark.
With two veterinarians on staff, you will not be one of a dozen new graduates competing for cases. You will know the doctor you learn from, and she will know you, your goals and how you learn best.

Why you’ll love Ozark, Missouri
Ozark is a friendly, growing town in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks. You get small-town quiet and a short commute, with Springfield next door and lakes, rivers and trails all around you.
Our team takes full advantage. Outside the clinic, Dr. Bacon is an avid backpacker, kayaker and rock climber.
Questions applicants ask
Is this a job or a training program?
Both, and that is the point. It is a paid position for graduates, run as a mentorship program, and on completion there are employment and buy-in opportunities here. It is built to turn into a permanent job rather than a year you have to leave at the end of.
Will I work weekends, be on call or work after hours?
No to all three. We do not schedule weekends, there is no on-call rotation and there are no overnight emergencies. When your day ends, it ends.
Is housing really included?
Yes. The clinic owns a private, furnished one-bedroom apartment about 15 minutes from the hospital. Utilities and internet are covered, there is no lease and no deposit, and your pets are welcome.
What does buy-in mean?
On completion of the program there are employment and buy-in opportunities, which means a path to an ownership stake in this practice. The specifics get worked out with Dr. Bacon once we both know it is a fit.
How much surgery will I actually do?
As much as you are ready for. Spays, neuters, general soft tissue surgery and dental procedures are part of the job here, and they are coached chairside until you want the room to yourself.
What if I am not licensed in Missouri yet?
That is fine, and it is common. The program is built for the stretch between graduation and licensure. Until you are licensed you will practice under the supervision Missouri requires for license candidates.
Who will I be learning from?
Dr. Meda Bacon, who founded the clinic, along with the rest of our medical team. This is a multi-doctor practice with one-on-one mentoring, so your mentor is somebody you work beside every day.
What equipment will I have?
A brand-new hospital with a dedicated surgical suite, a dental station, digital x-ray, ultrasound and echocardiograms, an in-house laboratory and an in-house pharmacy, with trained RVT support.
What is the schedule like?
Full-time, weekdays only. Your appointment load starts lighter and builds as you get comfortable, rather than being full from day one.
